Mercy is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Med 4 unit, a 36-bed specialty area caring for adults with neurological, renal, and urologic conditions. This role offers growth in a collaborative environment with a diverse patient population.

The Med 4 unit includes two 18-bed sections with a 6:1 nurse-to-patient ratio and a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary care coordination with nephrology and urology teams.

Qualifikationen

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Current LPN license in the state of practice.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire; other unit-specific certifications as required.

• Care for adult medical-surgical patients with neuro, renal, and urology conditions on Med 4.

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care under the supervision of person(s) licensed by a State regulatory board to prescribe medication and treatment, or under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Patient Population

Common diagnoses include:

• Stroke and transient ischemic attacks (TIA)
• Seizure disorders and altered mental status
• Acute and chronic kidney disease
• Electrolyte imbalances
• Urinary tract infections and urinary retention
• Kidney stones and hydronephrosis
• Post-urologic procedure patients

Clinical Skills & Experience

Nurses on Med 4 frequently care for patients with:

• Foley catheters
• Nephrostomy tubes
• Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Dialysis access devices
• Enteral feeding tubes
• Telemetry monitoring

This unit provides valuable experience in neurological assessments, stroke protocols, fluid and electrolyte management, renal medication monitoring, and multidisciplinary care coordination with nephrology and urology specialists.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program

Licensure

• Current LPN license in the state of practice

Certifications
