Job summary

County of Berks seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who has met all legal registration requirements in Pennsylvania. The Staff Nurse on a Unit or PRN provides quality professional nursing care to residents following Berks Heim policies.

The LPN may assume Charge Nurse responsibilities in the absence of the unit Charge Nurse and collaborates with the healthcare team to maintain patient safety and well-being.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Current Pennsylvania LPN license.
• Willingness to cooperate with other department heads and personnel when assuming relief Charge duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist Charge Nurse in care and management of unit.
• Maintain a therapeutic regimen for residents on the unit.
• Review and revise nursing care plans and goals for each resident.
• Assign and advise personnel on the unit in the Charge Nurse’s absence.
• Guide and orient new personnel on unit operations.
• Promote continuity of care through good communication with other shifts and departments.
• Make unit rounds in the Charge Nurse’s absence to ensure appropriate resident care.
• Maintain inventory of supplies on the unit.
