Job Summary

The LPN is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents in a unit under the direction of the shift supervisor and for supervising the day‑to‑day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants.

Responsibilities
  • Knowledgeable of resident rights and ensuring a respectful environment for privacy, dignity, and well‑being
  • Supports and cooperates with procedures for safety, confidentiality, quality improvement, compliance, and a harassment‑free workplace
  • Cooperates with coworkers and uses tactful communication in sensitive situations
  • Follows up with supervisors, coworkers or residents regarding complaints, problems or concerns
  • Completes in‑service training, attendance, dress codes, and other work duties as assigned
  • Gives and receives shift condition reports
  • Makes rounds and routine checks on residents
  • Observes and reports symptoms and conditions of residents
  • Administers treatments and medications prescribed by a physician
  • Maintains records: nurse notes, discharge plans, assessments, orders
  • Notifies physicians when a resident’s condition warrants
  • Admits, transfers and discharges residents according to policy
  • Reviews, monitors, intervenes and reports complaints and grievances
  • Performs emergency procedures such as CPR and reports accidents or incidents promptly
  • Assigns duties to non‑professional nursing personnel and supervises and evaluates performance
  • Monitors and updates care plans for each shift as appropriate
  • Maintains a physical, social and psychological environment conducive to the welfare of residents
  • Investigates and reports employee incidents per company policy and coordinates return‑to‑work programs with HR
  • Participates in relevant meetings and training sessions
Qualifications
  • Current, unencumbered LPN license in Florida
  • LPN Supervisor Certification
  • IV Therapy 30‑hour certification and current CPR card
  • Minimum two years of LPN experience, preferably in long‑term care or hospital
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Writing routine reports and correspondence
  • Basic math skills – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use nursing programs, email and online reporting
  • Problem‑solving skills: data collection, fact establishment, conclusion drawing
  • Physical capability to push, bend, lift up to 60 lb and perform repetitive tasks
  • Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, coworkers and team members
  • In good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, moving equipment, bending and stooping possible
  • Can spend long periods on foot and react quickly in emergencies
