Position Summary
Provides and documents individualized resident care, including resident evaluation, education, medication administration, IV therapy, treatments, and resident safety under the supervision of the RN.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates competency in advanced practical nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit-specific requisite skills.
- Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and other members of the healthcare team.
- Assists RN or provider during examinations and procedures.
- Documents patient data and patient education according to Orlando Health and department-specific guidelines.
- Performs triage functions, including assessing the patient and determining the next step in care, in collaboration with the nursing team or providers.
- Administers oral and injectable medications or immunizations as per LPN scope and provider directions.
- Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients and families.
- Stays informed about changes in hospital policy, procedures, and equipment.
- Participates in nursing PI activities as assigned.
- Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards.
- Provides age-appropriate care, assessing patient data and interpreting information to meet the needs of patients of different age groups.
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and standards.
- Ensures compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Nursing School Graduate
- Successful completion of a 30-hour approved IV therapy course within 30 days of hire (for inpatient/SNF only).
Licensure/Certification
- Current nursing license in Florida, renewed every two years.
- Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
