Job description

Position Summary

Provides and documents individualized resident care, including resident evaluation, education, medication administration, IV therapy, treatments, and resident safety under the supervision of the RN.

Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates competency in advanced practical nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit-specific requisite skills.
2. Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and other members of the healthcare team.
3. Assists RN or provider during examinations and procedures.
4. Documents patient data and patient education according to Orlando Health and department-specific guidelines.
5. Performs triage functions, including assessing the patient and determining the next step in care, in collaboration with the nursing team or providers.
6. Administers oral and injectable medications or immunizations as per LPN scope and provider directions.
7. Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients and families.
8. Stays informed about changes in hospital policy, procedures, and equipment.
9. Participates in nursing PI activities as assigned.
10. Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards.
11. Provides age-appropriate care, assessing patient data and interpreting information to meet the needs of patients of different age groups.
12. Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and standards.
13. Ensures compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Nursing School Graduate
• Successful completion of a 30-hour approved IV therapy course within 30 days of hire (for inpatient/SNF only).

Licensure/Certification

• Current nursing license in Florida, renewed every two years.
• Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
