Qualifications

Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long‑term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting, performs patient assessment, administers medications or treatments as ordered, documents resident interactions, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team. The role requires recognizing problems, recommending solutions, and responding effectively to assist in emergent situations, ensuring the health, comfort, and safety of residents.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse; an associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
• Required IV therapy/management skills in North Dakota: graduation from a Board‑approved AASPN program with IV therapy in the curriculum or completion of an approved IV Therapy course.
• Minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility, or attendance at a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan.
• Current unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the state nursing board and/or multi‑state licensure privileges.
• Completion of required department‑specific competencies and certifications, and ongoing annual continuing education and competency training.
