Indiana University Health in Muncie, IN is seeking a compassionate LPN to join our patient care team. The role covers performing patient assessments, monitoring vital signs, and administering medications within the LPN scope of practice.

You will collaborate with RNs and providers, assist with admissions/discharges, and provide wound care as needed. A valid IN LPN license and BLS are required; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Candidates have graduated from an accredited LPN program and hold an active IN LPN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required per unit policies.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document patient assessments within the LPN scope of practice.
• Obtain and monitor vital signs.
• Administer medications as policy permits (oral, topical, SQ, IM).
• Monitor patient condition and report changes to RN/provider.
• Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes.

Typical Responsibilities

• Performing and documenting patient assessments within the LPN scope of practice.
• Obtaining and monitoring vital signs.
• Administering medications, including oral, topical, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as permitted by policy.
• Monitoring patients for changes in condition and reporting concerns to the RN or provider.
• Assisting with admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
• Providing wound care and dressing changes.

Knows and uses the nursing process in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to individual patients. Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team. Evaluates response to interventions and patient status toward goal achievement. Accepts delegated nursing measures for which he or she knows he or she is prepared, qualified and licensed to perform.

Requirements

• Requires graduation from a nationally accredited licensed practical nursing program.
• Requires an active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) LPN license.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Successful completion of orientation required.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
