Job summary

Sentara Medical Group is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a physician practice in Norfolk, VA. This role supports providers, rooms patients, measures vital signs, administers meds, and educates patients. The position offers a mandatory first shift and an $8,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

The LPN works with the care team, documents in the EHR, and may supervise medical assistants. Ambulatory care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited practical nursing program leading to LPN/LVN eligibility.
• Current, unencumbered LPN/LVN license and NCLEX-PN completion.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in ambulatory or physician practice setting preferred.
• Ability to document accurately in the electronic health record.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers and RNs in delivering direct patient care in the clinic.
• Room patients, measure vital signs, and record health information in the EHR.
• Administer medications and immunizations within scope.
• Collect blood specimens and perform simple diagnostic tests.
• Prepare rooms and assist with examinations and procedures.
• Provide patient education and follow-up instructions.
• Support patient flow and process messages and refill requests.
• Direct the day-to-day work of MAs and aides.
• Follow infection prevention and CMS/DNV standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
