Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse to provide nursing care under supervision in the ACE/Highlands unit. The role emphasizes patient advocacy, accurate assessment, and timely documentation within UAB standards.

The position requires an accredited Practical Nursing Program completion, an active LPN license in Alabama, and BLS certification, with ACLS/PALS as needed for certain units. Benefits include education support, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program or equivalent required.
• Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients based on the nursing process and UAB Hospital standards.
• Orient patients and family members to the surrounding environment, acting as a patient advocate.
• Collect patient assessment data and notify RN of potential problems.
• Evaluate patient responses to care and document delivery of care, while responding to emergencies.
