Job summary

Phaxis is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join a busy outpatient Orthopedics practice in New York. The ideal candidate has orthopedic experience, supports physicians with hands-on patient care, and delivers high-quality service in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include prepping patients, taking vital signs, venipuncture, EKGs, and assisting with treatments, casts, sutures, and bracing, while coordinating with clinical teams to maintain smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
• Current New York State LPN license and registration.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Orthopedic experience is required.
• Experience with cast removal, suture removal, and orthopedic bracing.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examinations.
• Obtain vital signs and patient information.
• Perform venipuncture and EKGs as needed.
• Obtain PCR nasal swabs for pre-surgical patients.
• Prepare specimens for the laboratory and coordinate courier hand-off.
• Assist physicians with treatments and procedures.
• Perform cast removal.
• Perform suture and staple removal.
• Apply off-the-shelf orthopedic braces.
• Ensure physician orders are completed promptly.
• Work collaboratively with Registration, Radiology, Physician Practice Management, Physical Therapy, and other clinical teams.
• Maintain efficient patient flow and provide excellent patient service.
