Job summary

Quality Correctional Care is seeking nursing professionals to provide comprehensive health services in the Gibson County Jail. The role includes administering medications, conducting intakes, and managing chronic care under supervision.

The ideal candidate holds a current LPN or RN license with CPR certification, can stay on feet for long periods, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed. Weekend shifts are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Administer medications.
• Perform medical intakes and assess fitness for incarceration.
• Respond to sick call requests and coordinate with medical providers.
• Check and/change medical dressings as required.
• Perform 14-day physicals and manage chronic care.
• Provide patient education on health concerns.
• Respond to medical emergencies and take charge in emergencies.

Nursing Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
  • Administer medications
  • Perform medical intakes and assess if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
  • Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
  • Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
  • Performing 14-day physicals
  • Managing chronic care
  • Providing patient education on health concerns
  • Responding to medical emergencies
    • Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency.
  • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
  • Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed.
  • Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Location: Gibson County Jail

Shift Opening(s): Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) 6 AM to 2 PM

Requirements:

• Valid LPN or RN licensure
• Valid CPR certification
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
