Job summary

Quality Correctional Care (QCC) seeks a licensed practical nurse or registered nurse to join our team at Putnam County Jail. You will deliver comprehensive healthcare to incarcerated patients, administer medications, and coordinate with medical providers to ensure timely care.

Responsibilities include medical intakes, chronic care management, and responding to emergencies. Candidates must hold a current LPN or RN license and CPR certification, with the ability to stand for long periods and lift

Qualifications

• Must be able to push, pull, reach and bend frequently.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to inmates.
• Administer medications.
• Perform medical intakes and assess fitness for incarceration.
• Respond to sick calls and coordinate with medical providers; change dressings as needed.
• Perform 14-day physicals and manage chronic care.
• Provide patient education on health concerns.
• Respond to medical emergencies and lead in life-saving measures when required.
• Maintain knowledge of pharmacology and assist Medically Trained Personnel.
• Comply with state, federal, and local laws and regulations.

Nursing Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
• Administer medications
• Perform medical intakes and asses if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
• Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when neededCheck and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
• Performing 14-day physicals
• Managing chronic care
• Providing patient education on health concerns
• Responding to medical emergencies
• Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency
• Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
• Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed
• Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Location: Putnam County Jail

Shift Opening(s): 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM (3 days per week with an every other weekend rotation)

Requirements:

• Valid LPN or RN licensure
• Valid CPR certification
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
