Job summary

Quality Correctional Care (QCC) recruits licensed nurses to provide medical and mental health care to incarcerated patients at Putnam County Jail. The role emphasizes compassionate, holistic care, with emphasis on safety and rehabilitation within a correctional setting.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, administering medications, performing intakes, daily nursing duties, chronic care management, and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Valid LPN or RN licensure
• Valid CPR certification
• Able to stand for extended periods
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
• Shift: 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM with every other weekend rotation

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients.
• Administer medications and manage clinical tasks.
• Perform medical intakes and assess fitness for incarceration as needed.
• Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider.
• Perform 14-day physicals and manage chronic care.
• Provide patient education on health concerns and respond to emergencies.
• Maintain pharmacology knowledge including drug interactions and costs.
• Assist Medically Trained Personnel and comply with regulations.

Nursing Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
• Administer medications
• Perform medical intakes and asses if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
• Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when neededCheck and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
• Performing 14-day physicals
• Managing chronic care
• Providing patient education on health concerns
• Responding to medical emergencies
• Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency
• Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
• Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed.
• Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Location:

Putnam County Jail

Shift Opening(s):

6:30 AM to 6:30 PM (3 days per week with an every other weekend rotation)

Requirements:

• Valid LPN or RN licensure
• Valid CPR certification
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
