Job summary

Quality Correctional Care (QCC) is seeking a licensed practical nurse to deliver comprehensive medical care at the St. Joseph County Jail in South Bend, Indiana.

You will administer medications, perform intakes, and assist the medical team to support humane, quality care for justice-involved patients. This on-site role requires a valid LPN license and CPR certification, stamina to stand for extended periods, and the ability to respond to emergencies with calm leadership.

Nursing Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
• Administer medications
• Perform medical intakes and asses if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
• Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
• Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
• Performing 14-day physicals
• Managing chronic care
• Providing patient education on health concerns
• Responding to medical emergencies
• Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency
• Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
• Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed.
• Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Location: St. JosephCounty Jail, South Bend, Indiana

Shift Opening(s): 6 AM to 6:30 PM, 3 days per week with every other weekend rotation

Requirements:

• Valid LPNlicensure
• Valid CPR certification
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
