Job summary

Quality Correctional Care is seeking a licensed practical nurse to join our nursing team at Clay County Jail, Brazil, IN. This full-time role provides comprehensive healthcare to justice-involved patients, including meds administration, intakes, chronic care management, and emergency response.

Shift pattern is 8am-8pm, three days per week, with every-other weekend rotation. Competitive pay: $30-$36 per hour, plus a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401K.

Qualifications

• Active LPN license valid in Indiana or applicable state.
• CPR certification required.
• Ability to manage inmate patient populations with dignity.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications.
• Perform medical intakes and assess fitness for incarceration.
• Respond to sick calls and follow up with the medical provider.
• Change dressings as required by the medical provider.
• Perform 14-day physicals.
• Manage chronic care and patient education.
• Respond to medical emergencies and take charge if needed.
• Maintain pharmacology knowledge and cost awareness.
• Provide guidance to Medically Trained Personnel.
• Comply with all laws and regulations.

Nursing Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive healthcare to patients by providing the following:
  • Administer medications
  • Perform medical intakes and assess if patient is fit for incarceration, as needed
  • Respond to sick call requests and follow up with the medical provider when needed
  • Check and/or change medical dressings as required by the medical provider
  • Performing 14-day physicals
  • Managing chronic care
  • Providing patient education on health concerns
  • Responding to medical emergencies
    • Be capable of performing life saving measures and ability to take charge and give direction in an emergency.
• Maintain working knowledge of pharmacology, including but not limited to drug reaction/overdose, formulary/non-formulary medications, and knowledge of medication costs
• Be able to provide insight and direction to Medically Trained Personnel, as needed.
• Comply with all current and future state, federal, and local laws and regulations

Shift Opening(s):

Full-Time 8am-8pm - 3 Days per week with every other weekend rotation

Pay Range:

$30-$36+/hour based on experience

Requirements:

• Valid LPN licensure
• Valid CPR certification
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
