Job summary

Essentia Health in Brainerd and Baxter, Minnesota, invites an LPN/CMA to join our Pediatric Team in the ambulatory care setting. You will perform direct patient care, monitor patients, and assist during exams under supervision.

The role requires completion of a Medical Assistant program with certification within one year, and current LPN licensure in Minnesota. This position features day shifts, 64-72 hours per pay period, and a hybrid option.

Qualifications

• Support pediatric team in ambulatory care with direct patient care.
• Must complete Medical Assistant program and obtain certification within 1 year (within two attempts).
• Maintain current LPN licensure in Minnesota.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care and Monitoring: take vitals, document histories, observe symptoms to aid diagnosis.
• Assisting with Procedures: prepare equipment, position patients, support infection control during exams.
• Medication Administration: administer prescribed meds and monitor adverse reactions with proper documentation.
• Coordination of Care: collaborate with physicians and providers to develop care plans and arrange follow-ups.
• Patient Intake and Preparation: gather histories, update info, prepare for examinations.

Education

Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, with certification required within one year of hire (must pass certification within two attempts)

Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant

Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the relevant state

Job Description:

Education Qualifications:

This LPN/CMA will support our Pediatric Team (RNs, Physicians, and other providers). You will provide direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Patient Care and Monitoring: Perform routine assessments such as measuring vital signs, recording patient histories, and observing symptoms to assist in diagnosing and monitoring patient health.
• Assisting with Procedures: Support physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring proper infection control.
• Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Coordination of Care: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, and assist in coordinating follow-up appointments and referrals.
• Patient Intake and Preparation: Conduct initial patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories, updating personal information, and preparing patients for examination or diagnostic testing.

This position will work the following:

• 64 - 72 hours per pay period
• No Weekends
• 8 Hour Shifts
• Day Shift: 7:30AM - 5:00PM

Licensure/CertificationQualifications:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months.

• Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, with certification required within one year of hire (must pass certification within two attempts)
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the relevant state
