Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the G81 unit, a mixed specialty surgical step-down and general medical unit. You will work nights, 7:00pm–7:30am, collecting patient data, assisting with care plans, and administering medications under a provider's direction.

Ideal candidates graduate from an accredited practical nursing program, hold an Ohio LPN license, and maintain BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.
  • Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, document and report patient data and observations.
  • Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.
  • Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests.
  • Educate patients and family members.

The G81 unit on Cleveland Clinic Main Campus presents a unique opportunity to caregivers, as the unit is both a specialty surgical step-down unit and a general medical unit. G81 encompasses an 8-bed ENT/Plastics specialty step-down unit and a 24-bed unit with a specialty focus in Internal Medicine. The patients we see present a wide variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, such as head and neck cancer, surgical flaps and grafts, renal failure, diabetes, hypertension, pneumonia and sepsis. Many of our patients have complex multi-system failure issues.

A caregiver in this position works nights, 7:00pm—7:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Collect, document and report patient data and observations.
  • Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.
  • Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests.
  • Educate patients and family members.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program
  • Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • One year of patient care experience
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.
  • Involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $23.25

Maximum hourly: $33.50
