Job summary

Universal Hospital Services Inc. seeks an LPN to provide specialized care under RN/physician supervision in a child and adolescent psychiatric setting.

The nurse will manage routine health maintenance and illness prevention, lead care activities, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. The role requires an active LPN license in the state of practice, strong crisis intervention and communication skills, and a commitment to confidentiality.

Qualifications

LPN

Qualifications

Possesses current LPN license in state of practice; under the direction of the RN or physician, provides care in the maintenance of health and prevention of illness through specialized tasks in patient care. LPN demonstrates sound leadership skills and utilizes these skills in organizing the activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks of the child and adolescent. LPN has a record of consistently high quality clinical and interpersonal skills; serves as a role model to others. LPN displays sound knowledge of treatment procedures and interventions common to acute psychotic, as well as, to non-violent crises intervention practice; basic knowledge of abnormal psychology, as typically found in the child and adolescent psychiatric populations; knowledge of medical terminology, especially those terms associated with child and adolescent behavioral issues; through familiarity of psychopharmacology and the use of psychotropic medications; basic teaching and training skills helpful; problem-solving; organizational and time management; crisis intervention skills; written and oral communication skills; skills in co-facilitating process orientation groups; active participate in the treatment team process in plans of care. LPN possesses skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of clinical and support team members; empathy for patients and their families; flexibility regarding hours and schedule worked; and skills in maintaining information as highly confidential. In the absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization’s orientation and training program.
