Job summary

Essentia Health’s St. Mary’s Detroit Lakes Clinic seeks an LPN or CMA to join the urgent care team. This 0.6 FTE role offers 24 hours weekly, with a schedule 7:45 am–8:00 pm weekdays and 7:45 am–4:00 pm on weekends, rotating every third weekend and holidays.

Apprenticeship option provides paid training and a one-year commitment upon completion. You will assist RN/Physician in ambulatory care, supporting diagnosis and procedures while delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• LPN licensure with Minnesota Board of Nursing or CMA certification.
• Apprentice track available with paid training and commitment.
• AHA BCLS certification within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in ambulatory care setting.
• Assist RN, Physician and other providers as directed.

Job Description:

Essentia Health is seeking a licensed practical nurse or certified medical assistant to serve in the urgent care at St. Mary’s Clinic in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. This LPN or CMA works 24 hours weekly. The walk-in clinic schedule is 7:45 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday and 7:45 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. There is no on-call requirement, but every third weekend and a holiday rotation are required. We are willing to offer a medical assistant apprenticeship to the right candidate, providing a paid training and certification experience in exchange for a one-year employment commitment upon completion of the program.

LPN or Medical Assistant ($21.72-$32.58 based on experience):

Assists RN, Physician and other providers and provides direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Will perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated. Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age‑related category.

Medical Assistant Apprentice ($19.00 Flat Rate):

Under the guidance of a Certified Medial Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse preceptor works at an entry‑level, assisting RN, Physician and other providers with direct patient care in the ambulatory setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. As an apprentice, the Clinical Assistant in Training will perform identified procedures individually once competencies have been demonstrated. Cares for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted on age‑related category. Upon graduation of the apprentice program, wage will increase to $21.72 hourly.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

• LPN: Current LPN licensure with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.
• CMA: current registration or certification as a medical assistant OR verifiable completion of a medical assistant program and must become certified withinone year of date of hire. Must pass certification withintwo attempts.
• Apprentice: Completion of the 14-week paid training program through Medcerts, with onsite clinicals. Upon completion, responsible for a 1-year commitment to work as a medical assistant.
• ALL: AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
