Job summary

American Family Care Ooltewah is looking for a medical assistant to provide general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider. The role includes obtaining patient vitals, administering treatments, and maintaining accurate documentation. Training and experience in a medical setting are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Six months to one-year related experience and/or training.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and timely.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for processing.
• Perform laboratory tests and equipment maintenance.
• Respond to lab messages and call back requests.
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and equipment.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.

Education

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school

AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred
