Job summary

Spencer Hospital in Spencer, IA is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or certified medical assistant (CMA) to join our clinical team. The position focuses on patient flow, assistance with exams, basic lab tasks, patient education, and direct patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Requirements include an active IA LPN license or CMA credential, at least 1 year of experience, strong communication, and BLS (or willingness to obtain).

Qualifications

• Active IA LPN licensure or CMA credential
• Minimum of 1 year experience
• Engages in caring and professional communication at all times
• BLS or willing to obtain upon hire

Responsibilities

• Manages patient flow within the clinic to ensure timely patient visits and provider flow.
• Assists clinic personnel in greeting patients and preparing them for examination, taking vital signs, reviewing medication lists and health history.
• Provides patient education on office policies, medications, disease management, home treatments, and diets.
• Assists provider with exams and minor procedures.
• Performs phlebotomy and collects lab specimens; conducts basic lab tests.
• Prepares and administers medications with provider authorization.
• Maintains medical records for each patient visit and relays information to patients.
• Schedules patient appointments and testing; communicates results and follow-ups to patients.
• Manages dressings, wound care, and other first aid procedures.
