Job summary

Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care under the direction of the RN and Charge RN. The role emphasizes adherence to hospital policies, patient safety, and comprehensive EMR documentation.

The LPN will administer medications, assist with examinations and procedures, support rehabilitation, and help with admissions/discharges. Requires Michigan LPN license, BLS certification, and experience in Medical-Surgical and ER settings.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing.
• LPN with a current license to practice as an LPN in the State of Michigan.
• BLS certification.
• Experience working in Medical-Surgical and ER nursing areas.
• Knowledge and experience utilizing EMR system.
• Complete understanding and compliance with all HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Records in EMR and reports observed symptoms, treatments, and changes in patient condition to theCharge RN/physician.
• Administers medications to assigned patients in a safe manner; begins IVs only as certified.
• Assists physicians with examinations, treatments, tests and procedures as directed by nursing leadership.
• Assists with admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• Maintains patient safety and comfort; addresses daily living activities.
• Responds to call lights and answers patient needs; provides patient advocacy.
• Participates in development of nursing care plans and shift reports; gives 1:1 hand-off reports.
• Performs bedside shift reports and ensures documentation is complete and accurate.
