LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Main Infusion Clinic - Stephenson Cancer Center
Department:

Job Description:

Location: Stephenson Cancer Center

Shift Available: Full-Time (40 hours/week), 10-hour shifts between Monday-Friday

The Main Chemotherapy Infusion Center is an adult outpatient facility at the Stephenson Cancer Center with 43 treatment bays, treating roughly 100-125 patients daily with Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy. This fast-paced, team-centered environment requires excellent communication skills and multitasking ability. Our department offers orientation including one-on-one precepting and ONS certification for Chemotherapy administration, welcoming candidates eager to learn a new specialty.

General Description: Under supervision of a registered nurse, provides nursing care in a hospital outpatient setting for patients with complex oncology diagnoses.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications safely under physician or medical personnel guidance
  • Observe, record, and report patient conditions and reactions to treatments
  • Provide care according to established nursing plans
  • Collect comprehensive patient data
  • Ensure accurate and timely chart entries
  • Communicate reports to care team
  • Coordinate care delivery utilizing available resources
  • Promote health in a safe environment
  • Document progress toward outcomes
  • Apply evidence-based practices to improve care
  • Work closely with experienced clinicians for guidance
  • Triages calls for referrals
  • Demonstrate knowledge in chemotherapy/biotherapy and blood products (Infusion/Treatment Departments)
  • Understand radiation therapies, side effects, and symptom management (Radiation Oncology Departments)
  • Possess skills in IV therapy and hydration
  • Manage patient care considering cancer treatments and side effects

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Completion of requirements for NCLEX-PN; Oncology courses within 1 year of hire

Experience: Oncology or healthcare office experience preferred

Licenses/Certifications: Current LPN license (Oklahoma or multistate eNLC), BLS certification

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of nursing theories, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to organize, plan, and evaluate nursing needs
  • Excellent communication skills
