LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Phase I Infusion Clinic - Stephenson Cancer Center

Department:

SCC Phase 1 Infusion Center

Shift Available:

Part-Time (20 hours/week) 10-hr shifts

Phase 1 is an outpatient Clinical Trials department at the Stephenson Cancer Center, advancing their mission of improving patient outcomes and raising the standard of cancer care of all Oklahomans. The program is ranked among the top 10 in the nation and is the only Phase 1 program in Oklahoma and the surrounding region. We offer patients participation in "first-in-human" clinical trials to access investigational agents. This environment is fast-paced and collaborative, requiring excellent communication skills, multitasking, and a willingness to learn.

General Description:

Under supervision of a registered nurse, provides nursing care in an outpatient department to patients with complex oncology diagnoses.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Administers medications safely under physician or medical personnel guidance.
  • Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reactions to treatments.
  • Provides care according to established nursing plans.
  • Collects comprehensive health data.
  • Ensures accurate and timely chart entries.
  • Communicates reports to care team members.
  • Coordinates care delivery and utilizes resources to promote continuum of care.
  • Promotes health in a safe environment.
  • Documents progress toward outcomes.
  • Uses evidence-based practices to deliver and improve care.
  • Works with experienced clinicians for guidance.
  • Triages calls for referrals.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in chemotherapy/biotherapy, blood products, and radiation therapy as applicable.
  • Manages IV therapy and hydration.
  • Manages patient care considering cancer treatments and side effects.
General Responsibilities:
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Completion of requirements for NCLEX-PN; oncology courses within 1 year of hire.

Experience: Oncology or healthcare office experience preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Current LPN license issued by Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or multistate compact license (eNLC). Current BLS from American Heart Association.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of nursing theories, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
