Job description

Job Summary

Provides primary clinical support to the provider, patient, and their family to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient's condition. Follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and proper filing in medical records to ensure continuity and quality of care. Promotes a clean environment. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients within the specific age range of their assigned clinical area.

Job Duties

  1. Obtains and documents patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provides basic medical data for the provider, preparing the patient for examinations.
  2. Provides direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
  3. Assists the provider in performing minor surgical diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations to facilitate accurate diagnosis.
  4. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes associated paperwork to expedite laboratory studies with maximum accuracy and efficiency.
  5. Executes and documents ongoing patient communication, prioritizes communication to the provider, responds to patient questions and requests to ensure efficient use of provider time and timely response to patient needs. Administers medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under the direction of a provider and within scope of practice.
  6. Cleans and sets up examination and treatment rooms between cases, ensuring required levels of asepsis, availability of instruments and equipment, and patient preparation.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The employee is accountable for satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with organization policies and procedures. Additional competencies and skills outlined in department-specific orientation are also essential.

Position Details

Hiring Incentive: This position qualifies for a $5,000 sign-on bonus paid over two years, with certain stipulations.

  • Hours: Monday through Friday; dayshift hours to be discussed during interview.
  • Experience: Pre-Admission Testing, Perioperative, and/or ICU experience preferred.
  • Union: Yes
