Responsibilities

• As a Licensed Practical Nurse with RHA, you will provide health-related training to staff and people supported, perform routine nursing assessments, assist with scheduling preventative and routine medical appointments, and participate in person-centered plans to help individuals reach their fullest potential.
• Interact with staff at the RHA office and in residential homes.
• Administer medications, remove expired medications, take patient vital signs, monitor and report adverse reactions.

We are seeking an outgoing and energetic Licensed Practical Nurse who wants to make a difference in the lives of others. As a nurse with RHA will have an opportunity to practice holistic nursing and to positively impact the lives of others by providing healthcare oversight and monitoring for the people we serve.

Job Responsibilities

As a Licensed Practical Nurse with RHA, you will provide health-related training to the staff and people supported, provide routine nursing assessments, assist with ensuring preventative and routine medical appointments are scheduled, and be an active participant in each individual's person-centered plan to help them reach their fullest potential. You will interact with staff at the RHA office as well as in the residential homes.

Additional responsibilities of the Licensed Practical Nurse include:

• Assists RN and professional staff in delivering quality nursing services to persons supported.
• Administers specified medications. Removes expired medications from circulation and access.
• Takes historical information and records persons' supported vital signs.
• Observes person's supported mannerisms and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment as needed.
• Advocates for individuals with IDD
• Participates as an intricate part of the interdisciplinary team for the people we support

Requirements

Our ideal Licensed Practical Nurse has excellent listening and communication skills, can pick up on nonverbal communication and is eager to work on nonstandard nursing assignments.

Additional requirements for the Licensed Practical Nurse include:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program
• Valid state Licensed Practical Nurse certification
• Experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities preferred
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance
• Ability to lift between 20 and 50 pounds and provide CPR after certification
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
• Ability to remain calm in crisis situations

Pre-employment screening:

• Complete criminal background
• Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
• Drug testing
• Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
• Proof of employment history or references (if required)
• Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
