Job summary

Carilion Clinic is hiring an LPN Inpatient on the Vascular Access Team. This full-time day/night role supports patient care across age groups in a hospital setting and requires RN licensure in Virginia for progress toward nursing certification path.

The Nurse Resident program provides education, mentorship, and opportunities to develop clinical judgment, leadership, and professional confidence while delivering compassionate care and teamwork within a dynamic care environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program.
• Current RN license in Virginia with less than 1 year of experience.
• BLS-HCP certification required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required depending on assigned area.
• Must attend required Nurse Residency Program sessions.
• Keyboarding skills and computer literacy, including EMR.

How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:

The Nurse Resident provides patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, and collaborates with the healthcare team to develop and adjust care plans while building clinical competency.

The Nurse Resident

• Delivers high-quality patient care and customer service while demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in all interactions.
• Assumes accountability for coordination and delivery of individualized patient care across all age groups.
• Participates in the Nurse Residency Program to develop clinical judgment, critical thinking, leadership skills, and professional confidence.

• Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.

• Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.

Experience: None required.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required with less than 1 year of experience. For Behavioral Health roles, de-escalation training must be completed within 1 year of hire and maintained.

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must attend required Nurse Residency Program sessions. Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records.

Career Advancement Program: RNs are eligible to participate in the Career Advancement Program (CAP) to attain various levels of advancement based on performance criteria.

Compensation Range:

$33.52 - $50.28

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
