Job summary

Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA is seeking an RN Infusion for a day shift to provide comprehensive nursing care across all ages and to collaborate with the care team.

The RN will document in the EMR, support patient-centered care, and participate in performance improvement initiatives while adapting to changing care needs and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program.
• Current Virginia RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• AHA BLS-HCP required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required based on area.
• Keyboarding skills and computer literacy including EMR.

• The RN provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
• This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes.
• The RN Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
• Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records.
• Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs.
• Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs.
• Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care.
• Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic and changing care environments.
• Implements strategies to improve patient outcomes and resource utilization.
• Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members.
• Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs.
• Supports orientation and training of new employees.
• Uses problem-solving skills to address patient care and operational challenges.
• Provides feedback and participates in shared decision-making activities.
• Supports education activities within the department.
• Maintains confidentiality and complies with regulatory and organizational standards.

What We Require:

• Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required.
• Experience: None.
• Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required.
• Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
• Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area.
• Other Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records. For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.

Compensation Range:

Compensation Range: $33.52 - $50.28. Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
