Job summary

Kanawha Hospice Care, Inc. seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide nursing care and support to patients and families at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV, under the direction of the Registered Nurse within an interdisciplinary plan of care on the inpatient units.

The ideal candidate has completed an approved LPN program, at least one year of patient care experience (hospice experience preferred), and strong organizational, communication, and adaptability skills for a fast-paced hospice

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
• Minimum 1 year of patient care experience; hospice experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and people skills.
• Exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids.
• Frequent interaction with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Fast-paced clinical settings with potential for high stress.
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Position Summary:

• Provides nursing care and other support services to patients and families, based on interdisciplinary plan of care under the direction of the Registered Nurse at the Inpatient Units.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients up to 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Frequent standing and walking for extended periods (8-12 hour per shift).
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
• Ability to push and pull equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, stretchers, and medication carts).
• Visual acuity to read medication labels, physician orders, and monitors.
• Auditory ability to assess patient needs and respond to alarms or calls for assistance.
