UNTWN Uniontown Hospital in the United States is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care in an inpatient setting under supervision. The role requires current LPN licensure and BLS certification within 30 days of hire, plus compliance with criminal background checks for regulated areas.

The successful candidate will have at least 1 year of clinical experience preferred, and will work 36 hours weekly on varied shifts, including weekends, with responsibilities spanning

Responsabilités

  • Provide direct patient care per the patient’s care plan and under supervision.
  • Assist physicians and supervising RN with examinations and procedures.
  • Observe and document patient status, symptoms, and responses to care in a timely manner.
  • Administer IM, subcutaneous, IV, oral, nebulized and MDI medications as assigned.
  • Contribute to nursing assessment by collecting and recording data.
  • Assist in patient and family education and rehabilitation per teaching plan.
  • Document nursing interventions and patient responses for care team communication.
  • Monitor patient conditions and report deviations from normal health status.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  1. Current Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Licensed Practical Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
  3. State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.

  1. One (1) year clinical experience.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides direct patient care, as outlined in the patient’s plan of care and/or as directed by the overseeing role , to promote comfort and/or return to functional health for the patient. Consults with the Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist to seek guidance in delivery of nursing care, as necessary.
  2. Performs designated therapeutic procedures to assigned patients as needed.
  3. Accurately observes, records and reports to the overseeing role, all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions and progress in a timely manner.
  4. Assists physicians and the overseeing role with examinations and procedures, as assigned.
  5. Contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data.
  6. Observes the condition or change in condition of the patient, records signs and symptoms of deviation from normal health status and reports findings to the overseeing role.
  7. Participates in the development of the patient’s plan of care by providing data, contributing to the identification of priorities and assisting in the identification of measures to maintain comfort and support human functions and responses.
  8. Assists in assigned patient and family education and rehabilitation by reviewing patient needs with the overseeing role and following the teaching plan.
  9. Documents nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating to appropriate members of the health care team.
  10. Accurately and safely administers intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, oral, nebulization and/or MDI delivered medications as assigned.
  11. Obtains instruction and supervision as necessary from the overseeing role when implementing nursing technique or practices.
For facilities with specialty accreditation requirements:
  1. Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Heavy/Hard work:Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, positioning of patients, standing, walking; carrying of patients, materials and equipment weighing 40+lbs.This is performed on a daily basis.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  1. Protracted or irregular hours.
  2. Exposure to biohazards, communicable diseases, and possible toxins, such as radiological and chemical.
  3. Working with or near the deceased.
  4. Working with hands in waters.
  5. Electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Must have the ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions, and must be capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis.
  2. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  3. Must be skilled with computer systems used by both physician offices and hospitals to capture data accurately and consistently.
  4. Ability to function as a team member in respect to organization, communication, and task prioritization. Must also be able to work weekends, holidays and all shifts.
