Job summary

University Hospitals in Parma, Ohio, seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Emergency Services department. The LPN will provide age-specific nursing care in a Level III trauma ED, participate in documentation, and collaborate closely with the team to ensure safe, efficient patient care in a 32-bed unit.

The ideal candidate has an accredited practical nurse program, Ohio LPN license (or Multi-State Compact), and BLS. 10% travel may be required; a strong focus on PHI and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

Knowledge of LPN scope per Ohio board (Required).
Proficient use of clinical equipment (stethoscope, thermometers, monitor devices).
Level II requirements include CNEs, leadership, and peer reviews.

Responsibilities

LPN Emergency Services - ( 260002YE )

A Brief Overview
UH Parma Medical Center Emergency Department is a Level III Trauma Center. The ED is a 32 bed unit with 24 beds on the main side including 23 monitor beds and 2 trauma bays. The Super Track area has 8 beds run by an Advanced Practice Provider.

Our ED Team is a giant family. We thrive on team work! If it wasn’t for team work, the ED would struggle getting through the day. We spend a lot of time together, both in and outside of work. Our ED likes to joke around and have fun together while caring for our patients.

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

What You Will Do

Functions in accordance with the professional standards of the Ohio board of nursing.
Completes/submits required documentation.
Delivers effective relationship based nursing care.
Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes.
Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.
Develops self and contributes to the professional practice of nursing.
Displays leadership that influences optimal clinical and operational outcomes.

Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education

Other Accredited Program: Completion of accredited practical nurse program or currently enrolled in a nursing program. (Required)

Work Experience

2+ years Nursing Experience (Level II only) (Required)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of LPN scope of practice according to the Ohio board of nursing. (Required proficiency)
Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices) (Required proficiency)
Level II Only: 18 CNE's per year. 3 CNE’s in clinical specialty At least 5 CNE’s in Leadership Other CNE requirements will be agreed upon with manager
Level II Only: 3 Peer Reviews. Committee Involvement. 5 criteria with evidence of each.
