Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring part-time Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for the Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center.

The position offers evening shifts with 24 hours per week, opportunities for sign-on and relocation assistance, and a pathway for professional growth within a Magnet-designated 525-bed facility.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Licensed Practical Nursing is required.
• Students in accredited nursing programs may be considered.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
• Prior LPN experience and Emergency Department experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Department.
• Monitor patient status and communicate with care teams.
• Administer medications and document care per hospital policy.
• Collaborate with physicians, RNs, and support staff to ensure timely care.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Emergency Department | Level I Trauma Center

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring part-time LPNs for our Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing emergency nursing team where clinical skill, teamwork, and purpose come together to make an immediate impact for patients and families across the region.

Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital – Norfolk, VA

Position Status: Part-time, 24 hours per week

Shift: Evening shift positions available

Available Hours:

11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Weekends: Every other weekend availability required

Holiday Rotation: Required

Nurses in this department gain exposure to complex emergency, trauma, cardiac, stroke, critical care, and specialty cases while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative environment.

Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award, honoring exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.

Education Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Licensed Practical Nursing required

• Students completing an accredited nursing program may be considered

Certification/Licensure Requirements

• Licensed Practical Nurse license required

• Students in the process of obtaining a LPN license may be considered

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire

Experience Requirements

• Prior LPN experience preferred

• Emergency Department experience preferred

• Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply
