Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center. You’ll join a high-performing team delivering rapid, life-saving care causes impact across the region.

The department offers a Magnet hospital environment with advanced trauma, cardiac, stroke and critical care exposure, plus sign-on and relocation supports for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing required.
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• Registered Nurse license required.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire.
• NIHSS, TCRN, SCRN, TNCC, CEN, PALS, and ACLS preferred.
• Emergency Department experience preferred.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department | Level I Trauma Center

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring full-time Registered Nurses for our Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing emergency nursing team where clinical skill, teamwork, and purpose come together to make an immediate impact for patients and families across the region.

Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital – Norfolk, VA

Position Status: Full-time, 36 hours per week

Shift: Evening and Night shift positions available

Available Hours:

11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

1:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.

3:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.

Weekends: Every other weekend availability required

Holiday Rotation: Required

Education Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing required
• BSN or MSN preferred
• Students completing an accredited nursing program may be considered

Certification/Licensure Requirements

• Registered Nurse license required
• Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nurse license may be considered
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
• NIHSS, TCRN, SCRN, TNCC, CEN, PALS, and ACLS preferred

Experience Requirements

• Prior RN experience preferred
• Emergency Department experience preferred
• Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply
