Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of a New York State-approved training program in licensed practical nursing.
• Active New York State LPN licensure.
• BLS certification.
• 1–2 years of recent nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans and manages patient care according to each patient’s needs.
• Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition.
• Obtains patient vital signs (pulse, BP, temperature, respiration).
• Provides routine care for patients.
• Reviews medical charts and accompanies patients to their rooms.
• Assists physicians and registered nurses.
• Communicates with patients and their families.
• Performs standard diagnostic procedures (EKG, phlebotomy, venipuncture, spirometry).
• Prepares specimens for lab courier.
• Administers medications and provides wound care.
• Prepares and administers injections.
• Verifies that patient charts are updated promptly and accurately.
• Observes and records patient conditions and reactions to medications and treatment.
• Other duties as assigned.
