Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Diagnostic Specialist-MSSM to support quality patient care, perform routine examinations, and assist physicians and registered nurses with daily clinical activities. The role involves performing standard diagnostic procedures and coordinating patient care in a fast-paced setting.

The ideal candidate will have NY-approved LPN training, BLS certification, 1–2 years of nursing experience, and active NY LPN licensure.

Qualifications

• Completion of a New York State-approved training program for Licensed Practical Nursing.
• BLS certification.
• 1-2 years of recent nursing experience.
• Active New York State LPN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Plans and manages patient care according to each patient’s needs.
• Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition.
• Obtains patient vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, temperature, respiration).
• Provides routine care for patients.
• Reviews medical charts.
• Accompanies patients to their rooms.
• Assists physicians and registered nurses.
• Communicates with patients and their families.
• Performs standard diagnostic procedures including EKG, phlebotomy, venipuncture, spirometry, etc.
• Prepares specimens for lab courier.
• Administers medications.
• Provides wound care.
• Prepares and administers injections.
• Verifies that patient charts are updated promptly and accurately.
• Observes and records patients’ conditions and reactions to medications and treatment.
• Other duties as assigned.
