Our LPN Outpatient Clinic Float Team offers a unique opportunity for Licensed Practical Nurses who enjoy variety, flexibility, and growth. CHS Clinic Float team members support multiple outpatient clinics across our ambulatory network, stepping in where help is needed most. This position requires reliable transportation for traveling throughout the Tri‑County region: Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley.

Schedule

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: M-F 8am‑4:30pm, no weekends, no nights.

Job Summary / Purpose

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) reports to the Manager. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the LPN provides individualized, goal‑directed and family‑centered patient care. The LPN demonstrates proficiency according to the laws governing nursing in South Carolina. This position delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results and outcomes. This position will require the use of the LPN’s skills in multiple physical locations under MUSC Health.

Minimum Training and Education

Completion of a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program; minimum of six months experience as LPN required. Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. A current CPR card is required; either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card. Ability to demonstrate commitment to patient‑centered care philosophy as evidenced by effective communication skills, professional demeanor, and excellent interpersonal skills. Ability and motivation to articulate and support departmental philosophy of excellent guest relations. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be computer literate.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

Licensed as an LPN in South Carolina or a compact state.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, outdoors in temperature extremes, from elevated areas, in confined spaces, kneeling, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, performing pinching operations, gross motor activities with fingers and hands, firm grasping, fine manipulation, reaching overhead, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders, using both legs and lower extremities for balance and coordination, reaching in all directions, lifting and carrying 50 lbs. unassisted, lifting/lowering objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted, lifting from 36" to overhead 25 lbs., exerting up to 50 lbs. of force, maintaining vision 20/40 corrected in one or both eyes, seeing and recognizing objects close or at a distance, matching or discriminating colors, determining distance/relationship between objects, depth perception, peripheral vision, hearing acuity, coping with stressful situations, working rotating shifts, overtime as required, working in a latex‑safe environment, maintaining tactile sensory functions, and for selected positions maintaining olfactory sensory function and qualifying for respirator use.
