Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician-in-training to work in an ambulatory setting. The role emphasizes collaborative care with physicians and the rest of the care team, ensuring accurate documentation and efficient patient flow.

You will participate in program-based opportunities like the SIH Scholarship Program and the Phlebotomy Technician Program, with potential career growth within SIH Medical Group campuses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BLS certification; BLS from AHA preferred.
• Certification for Medical Assisting preferred (NCCT, AAMA, NHA or NAHP).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates critical thinking to understand patient care needs.
• Communicates effectively with care team, patients, and families.
• Onboards and educates new nursing staff within the department.
• Assists in care navigation for patients and families with treatment options.
• Documents care accurately in the EMR following policy.
• Rooms patients and updates clinical information in the EMR.
• Monitors expiration dates and storage conditions of meds and supplies.
