Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare in an ambulatory setting seeks a Phlebotomy Technician to support patient care. You will collaborate with physicians and caregivers, ensure accurate documentation in the EMR, and assist in onboarding nursing staff while helping patients understand treatment options.

Required HS diploma with current BLS; MA cert preferred. Experience with client service is valued in this clinical office role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification; BLS from American Heart Association preferred.
• Certification for Medical Assisting required – NCCT, AAMA, NHA or NAHP preferred.
• 1 year of clinical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates critical thinking to understand and address patient care needs based on available facts.
• Demonstrates quality communication between the care team, outside agencies, patients and families.
• Assist in onboarding and continued education of new nursing staff in the department.
• Assist in care navigation for patients and families via education on treatment options and resources.
• Document in the EMR accurately following policy and verify required information.
• Room patients and document updated clinical information in the EMR per procedures.
• Monitor expiration dates and storage conditions of medications and supplies.
