Job summary

Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV is seeking an LPN for Advanced Surgery. The role operates in-person, with full-time day shifts, supporting RN-led care in a surgical setting.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, wound care, medication administration, documentation, and assisting with daily living activities, plan of care development, and scheduling. LPN license and VA practice eligibility required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
• Current LPN license to practice in VA (as applicable).
• Knowledge of common clinical procedures and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to patient assessment by collecting data.
• Performs plan of care interventions and wound care.
• May administer medications as directed by a physician.
• Documents patient care performed.
• Assists RN with developing the plan of care.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, nutrition, ambulation).
• Monitors and communicates patient status and reactions to interventions.
• Advocates for patient well-being.
• Schedules procedures and tests as ordered.
• Obtains insurance pre-authorizations as needed.

How you'll contribute

AnLPN,who excels in this role:

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
• May administer medication.
• Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules, appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.

What we're looking for

• Education: Graduate of an approved practical nursing program
• License: Current LPN/PN to practice in the Commonwealth of VA and be in good standing with the Board of health Professions
• Certifications: BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer
• Minimum Work Experience:
• Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds Required
