Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for 8 South PCU in Roanoke, VA. The role supports acutely and chronically ill adults, collaborating with RNs and physicians to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care on a 25-bed unit.

Education: accredited practical nursing program graduate; Licensure in Virginia required. De-escalation training within four months of hire; minimum overall growth and development knowledge to tailor care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• De-escalation training must be completed within four months of hire ( Psychiatry & Behavioral Health ).
• Experience: None
• Knowledge of growth and development; ability to assess data and plan patient care as per policies.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the nursing process for patients of all ages served.
• Communicates frequently with team members, ancillary departments and physicians.
• Identifies educational needs of patients/families and documents.
• Applies knowledge of growth and development to patient care.
• Implements prescribed treatments and administers medications.
• Advocates for patients and supports their rights.
