St. Timothy’s School, an Episcopal preparatory school in Raleigh, NC, with approximately 565 students in grades Pre-K to 8, is seeking to hire a Lower School Math Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The Lower School Math Teacher is a full-time position. Duties begin in August 2025.
A St. Timothy’s Lower School Teacher will:
-Display a strong knowledge of developmental stages, differentiation and inquiry-based learning, and have familiarity with appropriate developmental educational programs.
-Collaborate and plan lessons/curriculum in a two- or three-teacher grade level team, overseen by the Lower School Head.
-Create a supportive and caring classroom environment in which students can learn and interact positively with one another through student-centered instruction, collaboration, imaginative play, hands-on learning, and authentic skills-based assessment.
-Bring innovation and creativity to the classroom.
-Be comfortable with integrating technology into the curriculum, collaborating with colleagues and working with children.
-Display excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to create and maintain accurate student records.
-Demonstrate high energy and commitment to professional development, staying current on research in education, independent schools and child development.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:

In addition, candidates should not only have excellent teaching and interpersonal skills, but also possess a deep understanding of developmentally-appropriate curriculum, a passion for working with young students, and a desire to collaborate with other educators. All candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate/relevant educational field.
The most competitive candidates will meet the following criteria:
-Possess a master’s degree in an appropriate/relevant educational field
-Have at least 3-5 years teaching experience in the grade level of the available position
-Have training and successful prior teaching experience with a reading program founded on Science of Reading research, fundamentals of teaching math, and differentiated instruction
