Job summary

Columbus Classical Academy seeks a Lower School Instructional Aide to support the Hillsdale K-12 curriculum in a self-contained, teacher-led classroom. Aides collaborate with Classroom Teachers to pursue excellence through a coaching model aligned with Hillsdale College’s Best Practices for K-12 Classical Schools.

Candidates must pass the required background check, uphold the academy’s mission, and complete curriculum training and professional development, including summer sessions.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of required background check.
• Ability to maintain a shared commitment to Columbus Classical Academy’s mission, including demonstrating moral character and civic virtue.
• Aides are required to complete necessary curriculum training and attend Professional Development sessions, some of which are held during the summer months.
• Additionally, strong candidates will have experience teaching or serving in a support role in a classical school or similar educational setting.
• Understand the tenets of a classical, liberal arts education; recommended reading: Tried and True: A Primer on Sound Pedagogy
• Understand and/or have experience teaching explicit phonics (such as Orton-Gillingham)
• Understand and/or have experience teaching Singapore Math

Lower School Instructional Aide | Position Overview

Instructional Aides are responsible for supporting the faithful implementation of the Hillsdale K-12 curriculum, utilizing classical pedagogy in a self-contained, teacher-led classroom. Aides work collaboratively with Classroom Teachers in their pursuit of excellence through a robust coaching model in alignment with Hillsdale College’s Best Practices for K-12 Classical Schools. Aide positions may be part-time or full-time, contingent upon the Academy’s needs.
