What You’ll Do:

  1. Promote Safety: Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with OSHA and Vulcan standards.
  2. Operate Lowboy and Heavy Equipment: Operate haul trucks and other construction equipment to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, and crushed rock, and/or operate a lowboy trailer to transport equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  3. Inspect Equipment: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with Vulcan standards. Complete daily mobile equipment reports and other relevant documentation accurately. Understand and handle Department of Transportation regulations, keeping all documentation up to date.
  4. Maintain Equipment: Maintain equipment performance by checking vehicle fluid levels and assisting in performing other minor maintenance. Report unsafe mechanical conditions to the supervisor.
  5. Monitor Processes, Materials, and Surroundings: Must be able to operate all types of heavy equipment to assist with the loading and unloading on the lowboy.
  6. Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.

Skills You’ll Need:

  1. Experience: Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment.
  2. Ready to Drive: Must possess a commercial driver’s license and have a valid DOT physical or the ability to get one.
  3. Knowledge of Best Practices: Knowledge of the general principles and practices of operating and servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred. Experience with the Department of Transportation rules and regulations for transporting heavy equipment is also preferred.
  4. Flexibility: Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
