Job summary

MG Mayberry Services LLC is seeking a Heavy Haul Driver to operate flatbed trucks across the Greater Houston area. You will perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections, load/unload heavy equipment, and follow safety procedures while maintaining logs of hours and vehicle status. Drivers are home every evening.

The role requires a Class A CDL, 3+ years of heavy equipment delivery experience, and compliance with FMCSA regulations. DOT certification and clean MVR are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years' experience with construction equipment deliveries and operating flatbeds.
  • 3+ years' experience driving dump trailers with manual transmission.
  • DOT medical certificate and pre-employment drug testing per FMCSA regulations.
  • Acceptable MVR per company/insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver heavy equipment (dozers, tractors, skidders, excavators, etc.) to project sites.
  • Load, unload, tie down, and strap heavy equipment at sites.
  • Check vehicles for mechanical/safety/emergency equipment.
  • Inspect loads to ensure proper cargo securing.
  • Maintain logs of hours and vehicle service per regulations.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions with crew signals.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, or damage.
  • Collect delivery instructions and verify routes.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance (oil, fuel, radiator fluid).
  • Assist with loading/unloading using appropriate equipment.

Position Summary

The Heavy Haul Driver is responsible for operating commercial flatbed trucks at MG Mayberry Services LLC job sites, hauling heavy earthwork equipment to and from project locations throughout the Greater Houston area. This individual performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, loads and unloads heavy equipment at project job sites, follows all appropriate safety procedures in the transport of cargo, and maintains logs of vehicle repair status and working hours in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations. Drivers are home every evening.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Deliver heavy equipment (dozers, tractors, skidders, excavators, etc.) to project construction job sites.
  • Load, unload, tie down, and strap heavy equipment at construction job sites.
  • Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is properly secured.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from the loading crew and verifying that the vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid, or performing minor repairs.
  • Load or unload trucks, or assist others with loading or unloading, using special loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) REQUIRED.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years' experience with construction equipment deliveries and operating flatbeds.
  • 3+ years' experience driving half round and full size dump trailers with manual transmission.
  • Ability to satisfy DOT requirements, including a current DOT medical certificate and pre-employment drug testing in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) consistent with company and insurance requirements.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items, work with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
  • The ability to work in hot environments and extreme weather conditions.
  • Work is performed outdoors but primarily in an enclosed vehicle protected from extreme weather conditions.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.
  • The visual acuity required, including color vision, depth perception, and field of vision, of those whose work includes the operation of trucks, forklifts, cranes, and high lift equipment.
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds, with or without correction, to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on equipment or machines.
  • Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
