Job summary

Optima Engineering in Charlotte is seeking a Low Voltage Technology Designer to design, analyze, and integrate telecommunications, security, and AV systems for commercial, government, university and K-12 projects. You will produce schematics and specifications while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, innovative solutions.

The role requires 4–5 years of low voltage experience, proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, and strong knowledge of NEC and BICSI standards.

Qualifications

  • 4–5 years of experience in low voltage technology system design.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of NEC and BICSI electrical codes and standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop low voltage electrical systems, including Telecommunications/Structured Cabling, Security and Access Control and Audio/Video Systems.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics, drawings, and specifications using industry-standard software.
  • Conduct site assessments and develop tailored solutions based on project requirements.
  • Perform calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other team members to develop comprehensive plans.
  • Review project drawings and provide technical guidance on low voltage electrical systems.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends in low voltage system design.

Overview

As a Low Voltage Technology Designer at Optima Engineering, you will be responsible for designing and developing low voltage systems for various commercial, government, university and K-12 projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create efficient, safe, and innovative solutions for our clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, contribute to cutting-edge designs, and grow your expertise in low voltage technology systems within a dynamic MEP firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop low voltage electrical systems, including Telecommunications/Structured Cabling, Security and Access Control and Audio/Video Systems.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics, drawings, and specifications using industry-standard software.
