Qualifications

Job description

The Low Voltage Technician supports the RiverTech contract with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Office of Security and Integrity (OSI). The technician reports to the RiverTech Program Manager and On-Site Supervisor, providing support for electronic security systems installations in new construction and modifications to existing systems.

Responsibilities
  1. Install low voltage cables and systems for electronic equipment and communication devices.
  2. Schedule testing services at the Office of Information Technology (OIT) facilities.
  3. Inspect security cable installations on-site.
  4. Rack, stack, and cable network video recorders, switches, servers, panels, and security workstations.
  5. Coordinate analog installations on-site.
  6. Develop technical plans to support security applications and systems.
  7. Review building plans for cabling and security setup accuracy.
  8. Document changes and deficiencies, and make corrections post-approval by the project manager.
  9. Create bill of materials for IT infrastructure to support cost estimates.
  10. Participate in security meetings, providing expertise.
  11. Incorporate security cabling requirements into existing Statements of Work.
  12. Coordinate security vulnerability scanning with USCIS Security Operations Center and domain join processes.
  13. Serve as the technical support point between USCIS facilities and divisions.
  14. Maintain positive relationships with outside vendors.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Cat5 and Cat6 cabling.
  • Experience installing cables, racks, switches, servers, panels, and workstations.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in security systems and reading technical drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently or in groups with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to follow guidance and established procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills, oral and written communication.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background checks and suitability assessments.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% within the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
  • Electrical experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with security systems such as Ccure 9000, Gallagher Command Center, Lenel, Milestone Network Video.
