  • Maintain/monitor infrastructure support systems such as UPSes, backup generators, and air conditioners.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions.
  • Equipment life cycle records (inventory as equipment is installed or moved).
  • Perform miscellaneous job duties as assigned.

REPORTS: Network Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining the communications cable plant and related network infrastructure, and installing networking and audiovisual equipment. The work will be expected to meet or exceed all applicable codes, with the quality of craftsmanship exceeding industry standards.

EXPECTATIONS OF EMPLOYEE

  • Adhere to Oak Ridge Schools Policies and Procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor about workplace issues.
  • Consistently report to work on time and prepared.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Installation, termination, troubleshooting, and repair of all low-voltage and fiber cabling (category 5e, 6, and 6a copper, single- & multi-mode fiber, voice, and control cabling).
  • Properly install and maintain various equipment, including, but not limited to: equipment racks, switches, projectors, speakers, screens, interactive whiteboards, cameras, and access points.
  • Maintain/monitor infrastructure support systems such as UPSes, backup generators, and air conditioners.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Five years of experience with the job functions described above (cabling; equipment installation; and equipment troubleshooting, monitoring & maintenance).
  • General knowledge of wide- and local area network topologies and operation.
  • BICSI (Installation) certifications desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Individual may be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Individual may also be required to work on scaffolds, ladders, and other aerial work platforms.
  • Individual must pass a physical range of motion test for job suitability.
  • Driving to remote sites, as needed.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $28.49 to $33.61 Per Hour

Job Requirements
  • At least 5 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • High School/Trade School degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
