Job summary

StructuredWNY is actively seeking an experienced Low Voltage Installer to join our team in person in New York. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low-voltage systems across telecommunications, data, security, and audiovisual networks. This is a fast-paced, client-facing position that requires precise technical execution.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in field work with structured cabling, CCTV, fiber optics, and access control. CDL is required.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of low-voltage installation experience in the field.
  • Experience with CCTV, fiber, and structured cabling systems.
  • Familiarity with fire systems, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage networks.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and test low-voltage systems including CCTV, fiber, structured cabling, Ethernet, Cat5/Cat6, and telecoms.
  • Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and blueprints to perform installations.
  • Perform fiber splicing and fiber optic system installation for data transmission.
  • Troubleshoot equipment using diagnostic tools and testing equipment to identify faults.
  • Conduct network wiring and equipment termination.
  • Maintain and repair CCTV/Fire/Access Control systems.
  • Collaborate with clients during field visits to assess needs and provide support.

Overview

***Please note, this posting is for experienced (3 year minimum) low-voltage technicians who have worked in the field. Structured cabling experience is required as well as previous experience with fire systems, access control, CCTV and other low-voltage systems***

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Low Voltage Installer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of low-voltage systems, including telecommunications, data, security, and audiovisual networks. Your expertise will ensure seamless communication and connectivity for our clients across various industries. Duties

  • Install, configure, and test low-voltage systems such as CCTV, fiber optic networks, structured cabling, Ethernet, Cat5/Cat6 wiring, and telecommunication systems.
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and blueprints to accurately execute installations.
  • Perform fiber splicing and fiber optic system installation to ensure high-quality data transmission.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues using diagnostic tools, multimeters (Ohmmeters), and telecommunication testing equipment to identify faults quickly.
  • Conduct network wiring and equipment termination.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on low-voltage electrical systems such as CCTV/Fire/Access Control.
  • Collaborate with clients during field service visits to assess needs, provide technical support, and ensure customer satisfaction with the installation or repair process.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications systems including VoIP, LAN/WAN networks, Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), and computer networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with fiber splicing, fiber optic systems installation, and troubleshooting fiber optic cabling issues.
  • Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to structured cabling and low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with telecommunication testing equipment such as cable testers, network analyzers, and RF testers.
  • Ability to use hand tools (wire strippers, crimpers), power tools, and diagnostic tools effectively in installation tasks.
  • Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) standards for low-voltage wiring installations.
  • Service technician experience in telecommunications or data center environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team in diverse environments requiring physical activity such as climbing ladders or working in confined spaces.
