Responsibilities

  • Pull, route, and secure CAT5e/CAT6 cabling in commercial construction environments.
  • Build and organize telecommunications rooms and equipment closets.
  • Install cable support systems, including cable tray, ladder tray, and J-hooks.
  • Install and terminate structured cabling, fiber optic, and coaxial cable systems.
  • Install low-voltage systems, including security, CCTV, and related cabling.
  • Terminate RJ45 connectors, outlets, and patch panels.
  • Test and troubleshoot copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site.
  • Follow project specifications, installation standards, and safety procedures.

Job Type: Temporary, Project-Based Assignment

Position Summary

Synergy Fiber is seeking a Temporary Low-Voltage Technician to support a commercial construction project in Ann Arbor and surrounding cities. This role assists with the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of structured cabling and low-voltage systems while ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Pull, route, and secure CAT5e/CAT6 cabling in commercial construction environments.
  • Build and organize telecommunications rooms and equipment closets.
  • Install cable support systems, including cable tray, ladder tray, and J-hooks.
  • Install and terminate structured cabling, fiber optic, and coaxial cable systems.
  • Install low-voltage systems, including security, CCTV, and related cabling.
  • Terminate RJ45 connectors, outlets, and patch panels.
  • Test and troubleshoot copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site.

  • Ability to safely use ladders, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Data center experience, fiber splicing experience, and OSHA or BICSI knowledge are a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow direction.

Preferred Certifications
  • BICSI Certification

This is a temporary, site-specific position supporting a designated commercial project in Ann Arbor and surrounding cities. Project duration and schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
