Job summary

Synergy Fiber is seeking a Temporary Low-Voltage Technician to support a commercial project in Charlottesville, VA. You will assist with installation, testing, and troubleshooting of structured cabling and low-voltage systems.

Travelers from the Richmond, VA area receive a daily per diem. The role welcomes applicants at all experience levels and emphasizes safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Experience with structured cabling and low-voltage systems preferred.
• Candidates of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to safely use ladders, hand tools, and power tools.
• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Data center experience and OSHA/BICSI knowledge are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Pull, route, and secure CAT5e/CAT6 cabling in commercial environments.
• Build and organize telecommunications rooms and equipment closets.
• Install cable support systems (tray, ladder tray, J-hooks).
• Install and terminate structured cabling, fiber optic, and coaxial systems.
• Install low-voltage systems (security, CCTV) and cabling.
• Terminate RJ45 connectors, outlets, and patch panels.
• Test and troubleshoot copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site.
• Follow project specs, installation standards, and safety procedures.

Job Type: Temporary, Project-Based Assignment

Position Summary

Synergy Fiber is seeking a Temporary Low-Voltage Technician to support a commercial construction project in Charlottesville, VA. This role assists with the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of structured cabling and low-voltage systems while ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards. Candidate traveling from Richhmond, VA area will receive daily per diem.

Primary Responsibilities

• Pull, route, and secure CAT5e/CAT6 cabling in commercial construction environments.
• Build and organize telecommunications rooms and equipment closets.
• Install cable support systems, including cable tray, ladder tray, and J-hooks.
• Install and terminate structured cabling, fiber optic, and coaxial cable systems.
• Install low-voltage systems, including security, CCTV, and related cabling.
• Terminate RJ45 connectors, outlets, and patch panels.
• Test and troubleshoot copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site.
• Follow project specifications, installation standards, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience with structured cabling, low-voltage systems, access control, security systems, or coaxial cabling is preferred but not required.
• Candidates of all experience levels are encouraged to apply, including those looking to begin a career in the low-voltage industry.
• Ability to safely use ladders, hand tools, and power tools.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Data center experience, fiber splicing experience, and OSHA or BICSI knowledge are a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow direction.
