Job description

Welcome to Lava Island

Lava Island is an indoor play oasis where kids fly across trampolines, vanish into towering jungle gyms, dive into foam pits, and race down slides while families share pizza and celebrate birthdays in the party rooms. It is loud, bright, and full of energy.

Every one of those parks started as an empty space. Magma Core Solutions (MCS) is the team that builds them.

What You’re Really Building

Pulling cable in a commercial space is mostly invisible work. The wiring disappears into walls and ceilings, and nobody walking through ever thinks about who put it there.

This is different. The cameras you install keep families safe. The access control you commission keeps kids where they belong and staff areas locked down. The audio you tune is the music a five-year-old hears on their birthday. The network you stand up is what the park runs on every day it is open.

It is also serious work: fast schedules, real budgets, and a hard opening date families are already counting on. When the park opens, what you installed is what makes it work.

Why You’ll Love Working at Lava Island
  • In-house at a growing company. You are not a sub on a one-off job. You are part of a team standing up a new low voltage function at MCS, with steady work as Lava Island opens more parks every year.
  • Full scope ownership of the low voltage systems at every park: structured cabling, IP cameras, access control, and commercial audio. End to end.
  • Modern platform. We are standardized on Avigilon and Avigilon Alta. If you know it, you will love it. If you do not yet, we will get you certified.
  • Travel cadence that works. You are on site for your scope, then home, then on to the next site. Travel and lodging covered.
  • Build something. The low voltage team is being built right now. The Lead helps set the standard for how it runs.
  • Competitive pay, travel and lodging covered, overtime eligible, and full benefits.
What You’ll Do

You are the senior tradesperson on the low voltage scope at every new park MCS opens. You install the systems, commission them, and sign off that the work is done right.

Install and commission
  • Pull, terminate, certify, and label structured cabling (Cat6/Cat6A and fiber).
  • Install and commission IP camera systems including NVR setup and configuration.
  • Install and commission electronic access control including readers, controllers, electric hardware, and software.
  • Install and configure commercial audio systems including speaker runs, amplifiers, and zone controllers.
  • Stand up network infrastructure: switches, patch panels, PoE.
Lead the work on site
  • Work from design drawings. Flag conditions that need design adjustment.
  • Direct the Low Voltage Technician on assignment with you. Set the pace, sequence the work, hold the standard.
  • Coordinate with the on-site MCS Superintendent on sequencing, ceiling close-in, power, and field conditions.
  • Keep the work area organized, protect what is already done, and leave the site clean.
Close the work out
  • Prepare the low voltage scope for inspection and walk it before inspectors arrive.
  • Walk the punch list with the Superintendent and resolve open items before leaving site.
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings and configuration records as part of the deliverable.
  • Hand off systems clean, complete, and operational to the team that takes it from there.
Support the parks already open
  • Travel to operating Lava Island parks for warranty work, troubleshooting, repairs, and system upgrades as needed.
Who We’re Looking For

The Low Voltage Systems Lead is the senior craft on every park’s low voltage install. The Leads who do well at MCS are:

  • Deep on the trade. Avigilon and Avigilon Alta experience is what we are looking for. If you know the platforms well, you will be set up to lead from day one.
  • Comfortable reading design drawings and translating them into a clean install.
  • Senior enough to direct a Technician on site without needing the title of supervisor to do it well.
  • Cost-aware. Treats materials and the schedule with the same care as the install itself.
  • Honest communicator. Surfaces issues and progress without being asked, and brings a path forward.
  • Able and willing to travel heavily. Multiple multi-day to multi-week visits per project. Be sure about this part before applying.
What You’ll Need
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience in low voltage installation across structured cabling, IP camera systems, electronic access control, and commercial audio.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the installation and commissioning of IP camera and access control systems. Avigilon and Avigilon Alta experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency reading and working from low voltage, network, and AV design drawings.
  • Working knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA-568, TIA-607) and cable certification.
  • Comfortable directing a small field crew and holding the work to standard.
  • Able and willing to travel heavily with multi-day to multi-week site stays.
  • OSHA 10 certification within 30 days of hire; OSHA 30 within 12 months of hire.
  • Equipment certifications (scissor lift, forklift, boom lift), or willingness to obtain them.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Able to work at heights, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical installation tasks on an active construction site.
  • BICSI Technician certification, Avigilon credentials, and bilingual (English/Spanish) all strong pluses.
  • Texas Alarm Installer license preferred.

A full job description will be shared and walked through with you during the process, so you have the complete picture before moving forward.
